HTC has its 'Rosie' customised Android UI, Sony Ericsson has one called 'Rachael' (lovely touch btw - "Am I a replicant, Mr Deckard?"), and now its Motorolas turn with 'Blur'. Unconnected to living in big houses in the country, in fact this alludes to the fusion between a native handset OS and a Palm-style Web OS.

And whats this with the photo BGR came up with - is that a RAZR style keyboard I see before me?

At a recent Google conference Andy Rubin mentioned the next generation of Android handsets would be much more social network focussed. This means a fusion of contacts with their online status, from whichever site they use. Think checking contacts to see their last tweet, their Facebook updates or for the business users their last LinkedIn status update. This is only possible with devices such as Android which are permanently connected to the web. The contacts app will suddently take on a huge new role - no longer will you use it merely to look someone up in order to phone them.

Even more intriguing regarding Blur is the idea of partial OTA updates. Instead of a full-on OS update, needing a reboot as we have now with devices such as the G1, Blur is able to push different sections down to devices as and when they become available - much like installing a regular app in fact.
