Term Definition
Dalvik

The kernel bytecode interpreter at the heart of Android is called Dalvik. It executes bytecodes which have been converted from a source language into this internal format. The most popular source language used is java.

DDMS

Dalvik Debug Monitor Service - a tool to allow the device being debugged to be managed, such as the emulator or a physical handset connected via USB. This is very useful when using Eclipse as it is installed as a separate Perspectivein the IDE. You can use it for things such as simulating sending an SMS, firing off GPS position events to the emulator, capturing screendumps and so on.

DRM

This is a technology which is used to control the use and distribution of data which is copyright-protected. Mobile phones use DRM to stop people sending downloaded ringtones, graphics, and video to others.
